Beryllium copper alloys can be classified in various forms. According to the processing form of the final shape, they are divided into deformable beryllium copper alloys and casting beryllium copper alloys. In addition, based on the content of beryllium and their properties, they can be classified into high-strength, highly elastic beryllium copper alloys (C17000, C17200, C17300) and high electrical conductivity beryllium-copper alloys (C17500, C17510).

Types of beryllium copper

Beryllium copper refers to a copper alloy in which copper is the main component and a small amount of beryllium is added as an alloying element. According to the different content of beryllium, beryllium copper can be classified into the following types:

1. High-chromium beryllium copper alloy: The beryllium content is between 0.3% and 1.2%, mainly used for manufacturing electrodes, springs, instruments and meters, etc.

2. Ultra-high-chromium beryllium copper alloy: The beryllium content is between 1.5% and 3.5%, with good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, mainly used for manufacturing bearings, cutting tools, flanges, etc.

3. Aluminum, silicon-aluminum beryllium copper alloy: The aluminum and silicon-aluminum content is between 0.5% and 2.5%, with good corrosion resistance and heat conductivity, mainly used for manufacturing seals, marine equipment, copper ceramics, etc.

Applications of beryllium copper

1. Manufacturing electrodes: High-chromium beryllium copper alloys have excellent electrical conductivity and can be used to manufacture electrodes.

2. Manufacturing mechanical parts: Ultra-high-chromium beryllium copper alloys have good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and can be used to manufacture wear-resistant mechanical parts, such as bearings, cutting tools, etc.

3. Manufacturing seals: Aluminum, silicon-aluminum beryllium copper alloys have good sealing performance and heat conductivity, and can be used to manufacture seals, such as automotive engine sealing rings, pressure gauges, etc.

4. Manufacturing artworks: Beryllium copper has good forgeability and plasticity, and can be used to manufacture various artworks, such as clock parts, handicrafts, etc.
